Spring mandrel size (spring inner diameter) equal and bigger than 4.75mm is defined as Helical spring. Â Available mandrel sizes are 4.75mm, 6mm, 8mm, 9.5mm, 12.7mm, 16mm, 19mm, 22.2mm, 25.4mm. Available wire sizes are 0.15mm, 0.25mm, 0.4mm, 0.5mm, 0.75mm, 1mm, 1.25mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm, and 5mm.
The listing price is for per inch. If multiple units are ordered, a continuous length will be sent out unless otherwise stated in the comments box.
For smaller helical springs, please check “Micro Springs” listings.
For special designs or sizes, please feel free to contact us: nitinol@kelloggsresearchlabs.com.
We are also capable of creating two-way helical springs and other nitinol components. These are difficult to create, thus cost more. Please Request a Quote. To see a simple demonstration of two-way, please view this video showing how a spring can move depending on the temperature.
Transition Temperature |
||
| Tag | Transition Temperature(°C/°F) | Effect |
| SuperElastic | 0 | Austenitic at room temperature |
| Air Temp | 20/70 | Martensitic in a cool environment(freezer, ice water…) and change to set shape when brought to room temp. |
| Body Temp | 35/95 | Martensitic in a cool environment(freezer, ice water…) and change to set shape when held in hands. |
| Standard Temp | 45/115 | Martensitic at room temperature and change to set shape when heat to 45°C and above. |
| High Temp | 80/180 | Martensitic at elevated temperatures and change to set shape when heat to 80°C and above. |
| Note: Heat can be generated electrically. | ||
Pitch |
||
Pitch is the distance between the center of two consecutive wraps of wire.
Mandrel SizeThis determines the inside diameter of the spring. |
